Practice Nepali typing with everyday sentences
Start with a short message
Open NepType, choose Nepali + EN and practise one sentence at a time. Start with a tea request or a book question, then compare your output with the examples. Pay attention to the spellings you need to correct. NepType has no timer or accuracy score.
Try these four writing tasks
Ask for tea, ask where your book is, wish someone a happy birthday, then ask them to bring a book tomorrow. Write each message in Roman letters before looking at the Roman input column. The examples give one working input for each message; other spellings can produce the same Nepali. Use Nepali + EN for every example here.
| Roman input | Nepali output |
|---|---|
malai chiya chahinchha. | मलाई चिया चाहिन्छ। |
mero kitab kaha cha? | मेरो किताब कहाँ छ? |
janmadinko shubhakamana! | जन्मदिनको शुभकामना! |
bholi kitab lyaunu. | भोलि किताब ल्याउनु। |
Find and repair a missed vowel
For a morning arrangement, you want to write “भोलि बिहान भेटौँ।” With bihan, the current engine produces बिहन, missing the ा in बिहान. The first row deliberately shows that incorrect spelling. Change the Roman input to bihana, as in the second row, then read the entire output again. A readable suggestion can still contain a mistake.
| Roman input | Nepali output |
|---|---|
bholi bihan bhetau. | भोलि बिहन भेटौँ। |
bholi bihana bhetau. | भोलि बिहान भेटौँ। |
Repeat without copying the Roman answer
Choose one sentence from the first table. Clear the pad and write the Roman input again while looking only at the Nepali sentence. Compare your finished output word by word. When you write a new sentence of your own, check its meaning as well as its spelling.
- Choose a sentence and read its Nepali spelling.
- Clear the pad and write the sentence from memory in Roman letters.
- Compare the result, correct any difference and try it once more.
Check the small marks before copying
In the book question, check the mark above कहाँ. In the tea request, read चाहिन्छ as a complete word. In the birthday greeting, check जन्मदिनको and the punctuation. Review your final output before using Copy text. Edit the Roman input to change a phrase; the Nepali output box is read-only.
Keep a note of your corrections
Save the Roman input, final Nepali sentence and the word you corrected in your own notes. For the morning example, record bihan as the input that needed repair and bihana as the tested replacement. Revisit the correction in your next practice session. Copy anything you want to keep before closing or reloading the browser; the pad does not save drafts.
Match this practice to your goal
These exercises practise Roman-word composition and proofreading. A course that names a fixed Nepali Romanized keyboard layout needs that layout’s own key chart. An exam may also specify its software and scoring rules; check those requirements separately.
